The Xinxiuli Headquarters stands as a testament to the seamless integration of cultural heritage and contemporary office design. Drawing inspiration from the tranquil yet powerful flow of the Yongjiang River, Ray Yang infused the office’s main reception wall with elegant curves reminiscent of the Samsonite logo. This design choice not only reflects the company’s identity but also anchors the space within its urban context, connecting the office environment to the city’s natural and cultural landscape.
Central to the project is a commitment to innovation and sustainability. The headquarters exemplifies the motto “expect innovation,” with every aspect of the design guided by green principles and people-oriented solutions. Collaborative efforts with LEED consultants resulted in the attainment of LEED Gold certification, underscoring the organization’s dedication to both strategic development and social responsibility. The use of sustainable materials and thoughtful spatial planning highlights the company’s forward-thinking approach.
Material selection played a pivotal role in shaping the sensory experience of the office. The interplay between deep and light tones in the flooring and ceiling evokes the imagery of a coastline, while the carpet’s circular patterns shimmer like sunlight on water. Contrasting white stones and darker shades create a visual narrative that mirrors the mutual development of Ningbo and the Samsonite Group, reinforcing the connection between place and purpose.
Technological innovation is at the heart of the Xinxiuli Headquarters. Intelligent lighting systems, electronic atomized glass, adjustable desks, and smart conference room reservation systems contribute to a flexible and dynamic work environment. These features cater to the needs of a new generation of professionals, fostering collaboration and adaptability while enhancing overall efficiency and comfort.
The spatial layout is meticulously crafted to balance elegance and practicality. The management offices exude understated sophistication, while open employee areas offer ample collaborative and meeting spaces. An oval conference room, positioned as the focal point of the reception area, acts as an “island” that maximizes natural light and panoramic views of Ningbo’s skyline, effectively blurring the boundary between indoors and outdoors.
The Xinxiuli Headquarters project, completed in May 2023, covers 3,000 square meters and exemplifies how thoughtful design can embody a company’s spirit while setting new standards for sustainable, intelligent workplaces. As Ray Yang’s vision demonstrates, the future of office design lies in the harmonious blend of tradition, innovation, and environmental stewardship.
