The sculpture Dancing Flower draws its inspiration from the sensory experiences of sea breeze, mountain mist, and the interplay of light and shadow at dawn. Yu-Ting Shih sought to encapsulate not only the visual splendor of these moments but also their intangible qualities—temperature, scent, and memory. The result is a work that invites viewers to recall the subtle beauty found in everyday life, transforming fleeting impressions into a lasting artistic statement.

Distinguished by its dynamic form and metallic sheen, Dancing Flower stands as an abstract representation of spring’s blooming flowers—each petal rendered as if caught mid-dance. The sculpture’s kinetic energy and tension-filled curves evoke the grace of a ballet dancer, capturing both movement and stillness. Crafted from cast bronze and meticulously polished, the sculpture measures 38 by 32 by 86 centimeters. The creation process involved extensive research and technical expertise, including sketching, mold making, metal casting, and surface finishing. Anti-rust treatments ensure the longevity of the piece, reflecting a commitment to both artistic vision and material durability.

Dancing Flower employs visual techniques of color, shape, and texture to interpret the interplay of light, shadow, rhythm, and volume. Through these elements, the sculpture resonates with viewers, echoing personal memories and emotions. The abstract, modern, and Oriental-inspired design invites contemplation, making it a striking addition to contemporary art collections.

The project, completed in Taiwan between October 2023 and April 2024, has garnered significant recognition, earning the Bronze A' Design Award in 2025 for its creative ingenuity and technical excellence. This accolade highlights the sculpture’s contribution to the fine arts, celebrating its role in enhancing quality of life and enriching the cultural landscape.
