Pay Des Fees, a medical cosmetic clinic designed by Yi Ling Chen, stands as a testament to the power of thoughtful design in healthcare environments. Drawing inspiration from the clinic’s butterfly-shaped logo, the space is enveloped in gentle curves and a fairy-like, dreamy atmosphere. This approach not only elevates the clinic’s brand identity but also introduces a sense of artistry and fluidity that distinguishes it from conventional medical settings.
The design’s uniqueness lies in its interplay of light, material, and form. Irregularly arranged linear light strips in the corridor evoke the sensation of moving through time, while matte and hazy finishes create a soft, misty ambiance. Lighting is meticulously tailored to each area: cold, clinical illumination in operating rooms ensures precision, while warm, inviting tones in reception and lounge spaces foster comfort. This careful orchestration balances professionalism with a welcoming, almost surreal environment.
Material selection further enhances the clinic’s modern yet calming aesthetic. Mineral paint, wallpaper, stone plastic composite flooring, Bolon carpet, metal, and transparent glass are used throughout, with a color palette anchored in beige, white, and cream. Soft hues dominate communal areas to promote relaxation, while neutral tones in professional zones underscore sterility and focus. The result is a harmonious blend of functionality and visual appeal.
Spanning 737.1 square meters across two floors, the clinic is thoughtfully zoned to prioritize privacy and efficient circulation. The first floor houses reception and surgical spaces, while the second floor is dedicated to VIP services. Natural lighting floods waiting and treatment areas, enhancing comfort and well-being. The layout, likened to a flowing ribbon, ensures seamless movement for both patients and staff, with separate routes to maintain discretion and professionalism.
Feedback from staff and patients highlights the design’s success in marrying practicality with aesthetics. Ample storage, logical circulation, and dedicated professional areas support efficient workflows, while the abundance of natural light and gentle curves create a soothing environment. The design’s fairyland theme, with its ribbons and curves, is complemented by preserved patios and planting areas, reinforcing the clinic’s commitment to elegance, health, and nature.
Despite challenges such as space constraints and strict regulatory requirements, Yi Ling Chen’s vision prevailed, resulting in a space that is both inviting and compliant with medical standards. Awarded Bronze in the 2025 A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award, Pay Des Fees exemplifies how innovative design can enhance quality of life and redefine the healthcare experience.
Pay Des Fees clinic demonstrates that medical spaces need not sacrifice beauty for functionality. Through its butterfly-inspired curves, soft lighting, and meticulous attention to privacy and comfort, the clinic sets a new standard for modern medical environments—one where artistry and wellness coexist in perfect harmony.
