Villa Torres: Brutalist Elegance Overlooking the Sea

Marcos Biazus crafts a timeless residence with a striking rooftop pool

Villa Torres by Marcos Biazus redefines residential architecture with its bold brutalist design, innovative use of materials, and a rooftop pool offering panoramic sea views.

Villa Torres stands as a testament to forward-thinking design, merging brutalist aesthetics with modern luxury. Conceived by architect Marcos Biazus, this residential house challenges conventional norms with its imposing facade and seamless integration of exposed concrete, steel, and glass. The project’s ambition was clear: to create a 1000m² home on a compact 400m² plot, maximizing vertical space to capture breathtaking views of the sea from every main living area, including the pool.

The unique character of Villa Torres is evident in its facade, where raw materials and clean lines evoke a sense of timelessness. The decision to use exposed concrete, stainless steel, corten steel, and expansive glass panels was driven by both aesthetic and practical considerations. These materials not only enhance the home’s visual impact but also ensure durability and minimal maintenance in the coastal environment. The result is a structure that commands attention while harmonizing with its surroundings.

One of the most remarkable features of Villa Torres is its rooftop pool, an engineering marvel suspended above the home and encased in glass. This design element required a highly complex structural solution, integrating the building’s support system into the architectural expression of the facade. The use of loose reinforcement techniques in metal and wooden forms allowed for the creation of concrete slats, adding texture and depth to the exterior while maintaining structural integrity.

The interior layout is meticulously planned across four levels. The basement and ground floor accommodate the garage and service areas, while the second floor is dedicated to private bedrooms, including a master suite with uninterrupted sea views. The third floor serves as the social heart of the home, featuring a spacious living room, balcony, and gourmet kitchen. At the pinnacle, the rooftop pool and outdoor entertaining area offer a luxurious retreat, complete with a deck and external fireplace, all designed to maximize the coastal panorama.

Villa Torres has garnered international recognition, earning the Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building, and Structure Design in 2025. This accolade highlights the project’s exceptional technical execution and artistic vision, positioning it as a benchmark for contemporary residential design. As a result, Villa Torres not only elevates the standard for coastal living but also inspires admiration for its innovative approach and enduring beauty.

By blending brutalist principles with modern comforts, Marcos Biazus demonstrates how thoughtful design can overcome spatial challenges and create a home that is both functional and extraordinary. Villa Torres stands as a beacon of architectural excellence, inviting future projects to embrace bold ideas and timeless materials.
