Curi: AI Mentoring Platform Bridging the Opportunity Divide

Empowering Career Growth Through Accessible, Intelligent Guidance

Curi, designed by Chiwon Lee and team, reimagines mentorship by leveraging AI to make quality career guidance universally accessible, addressing the digital divide and fostering professional growth for all.

The digital divide continues to create barriers in access to mentorship, leaving many aspiring professionals without the guidance needed to navigate their careers. Curi, an innovative AI mentoring platform, directly addresses this challenge. By combining in-depth user research with competitive analysis, the design team identified critical gaps in usability, accessibility, and engagement within existing platforms. These insights informed the creation of a more intuitive and impactful solution, ensuring that mentorship is not a privilege but a resource available to everyone.

At the heart of Curi lies its Agentic AI mentor, a unique feature trained on real mentor data to deliver personalized, adaptive guidance. Unlike traditional platforms, Curi offers a pressure-free environment where mentees can freely ask questions and explore career paths. The intelligent matching system pairs users with AI mentors tailored to their interests, providing seamless interactions and real-world insights. This approach empowers individuals to build confidence and make informed decisions about their professional journeys.

The development of Curi utilized advanced tools such as Figma, FigJam, Blender, and the OpenAI API, ensuring a smooth workflow from prototyping to AI-driven functionality. The platform is optimized for iPhone 14, 15 Pro, and 16, with a scalable interface adaptable to various screen sizes. AI mentors are meticulously trained in career-related information, particularly in technology and fields popular among students, with all data carefully vetted for quality and accuracy.

Users engage with Curi by selecting their desired industry, position, and location, after which they are matched with an AI mentor built on authentic professional insights. Through interactive conversations, users access tailored career guidance, explore mentor stories, and gain practical knowledge for better decision-making. This intuitive process transforms career discovery into an engaging and accessible experience, breaking down traditional barriers to mentorship.

The project, launched in 2024 and developed by a globally distributed team, reflects a commitment to inclusivity and innovation. The research underpinning Curi combined quantitative and qualitative methods to uncover the unique challenges faced by mentors and mentees, particularly those affected by the opportunity divide. By addressing these challenges, Curi stands out as a data-driven, user-centered solution that democratizes access to mentorship and bridges the gap between ambition and opportunity.

Curi’s excellence has been recognized with the Iron A' Mobile Technologies, Applications and Software Design Award in 2025, highlighting its practical innovation and positive impact on the professional landscape. As the platform continues to evolve, it sets a new standard for accessible, AI-powered mentorship, contributing to a more equitable and empowered future for all aspiring professionals.
