Inspired by the striking contrasts of Chile’s geography, Flora’s label design draws from the arid deserts of the north and the rugged, cold expanses of Patagonia in the south. The project uses these landscapes as a metaphor, reflecting the resilience and beauty of nature in extreme environments. The color palette is carefully chosen to echo the soft tones of northern sunrises and the cool hues of Patagonian skies, creating a harmonious blend that tells a story of Chile’s natural diversity.
The unique properties of Flora’s label lie in its ability to visually narrate the journey across Chile’s varied terrains. Warm hues mirror the sun’s reflection on northern mountains and deserts, while gentle blues and greys evoke the cloud-streaked skies of Patagonia. Each element of the design is rooted in a deep connection to the land, offering an immersive experience that reflects the soul of the country and the artisanal nature of the gin itself.
Technological innovation is evident in the production of the Flora label. Crafted from textured martele paper, the label provides a tactile dimension that enhances the user’s experience. Gold foil accents on the logo, sun, and clouds introduce an element of elegance, while a special die-cut shape and subtle embossing on the description panel add further sophistication. These features combine to evoke the vibrant skies and colorful landscapes of Chile, making the packaging as memorable as the spirit within.
The bottle’s specifications—92 mm in diameter, 218 mm in height, and a 21.5 mm neck width—create a balanced, sleek profile. A wooden cork complements the design, reinforcing the artisanal and natural qualities of the product. The choice of materials and dimensions is deliberate, ensuring both functionality and visual appeal, and reflecting the craftsmanship that defines the Flora brand.
Interaction with the product is enhanced by the gin’s unique hues, derived from native Chilean berries. The pink gin, colored by maqui berry, and the blue gin, tinted with calafate berry, perfectly complement the label’s color story. This harmony between the spirit’s appearance and its packaging creates a multi-sensory experience, deepening the connection between the product and its inspiration.
Flora’s design process, which began in Santiago in 2023, involved extensive research into Chile’s landscapes, colors, and natural patterns. Overcoming the challenge of integrating diverse hues and forms into a cohesive design, the team distilled the essence of Chile’s dynamic beauty into a visually harmonious label. The result is a packaging design that not only pays homage to Chile’s mystique but also sets a new standard in the world of spirits branding.
Flora’s recognition with the Golden A’ Packaging Design Award in 2025 highlights its excellence in art, science, and design, marking it as a trendsetting creation with global impact.
