Lucent: Illuminating Interiors with Nature-Inspired Porcelain

Porcelain slab design by Pishgaman Memari Arya redefines light and space

Lucent, the centerpiece of the Lumin Collection by Pishgaman Memari Arya, introduces a new era of porcelain slab design, blending the ethereal qualities of light with the tranquility of nature for contemporary interiors.

Lucent stands as a testament to innovation in interior surfaces, capturing the delicate interplay of light and shadow. Inspired by the natural dance of sunlight across surfaces, this porcelain slab evokes a sense of warmth and serenity. The design draws from the gentle green hues found in nature, with each ray of light revealing subtle patterns reminiscent of olive and sage leaves. This approach not only enhances visual appeal but also fosters a calming atmosphere, making Lucent an ideal choice for spaces seeking a harmonious connection with nature.

What distinguishes Lucent is the integration of the Evodry effect, a unique surface treatment that mimics the transparency and refraction of glass. Vertical embossed lines, created using transparent dry powder, mirror the texture of specialty glass, allowing the slab to unveil "gentle whispers of the world beyond." The result is a surface that balances strength and delicacy, offering both durability and a striking visual experience. Each slab measures 120 x 280 cm with a slender 6 mm profile, ensuring ease of installation and the possibility of subtle curvature for bespoke applications.

The realization of Lucent involved a meticulous process, combining original photography, enhanced digital printing, and advanced porcelain manufacturing techniques. No stock images were used; instead, every plant species and lighting composition was carefully curated by the design team to reinforce the human-nature connection. The technical prowess behind Lucent extends to its flexibility and lightness, attributes that facilitate transportation and installation while maintaining structural integrity.

Research played a pivotal role in the development of Lucent. Surveys conducted with architects and clients highlighted the importance of light in modern architecture and the transformative power of glass in expanding and brightening interiors. These insights guided the design team to create a product that transcends traditional slab aesthetics, offering both visual and functional innovation. The challenge of capturing the essence of light and reflection was met through extensive experimentation with glass types and lighting setups, ensuring that each slab authentically reflects the intended ambiance.

Lucent debuted at the Building and Construction Industry Exhibition in Tehran in August 2024, marking the introduction of Iran’s first 6 mm porcelain slabs. The design has since been recognized with a Bronze A' Design Award, celebrating its creative ingenuity and contribution to quality of life improvements. By seamlessly merging art, science, and technology, Lucent by Pishgaman Memari Arya sets a new standard for decorative surfaces in contemporary living environments.

With its award-winning blend of innovation and artistry, Lucent invites architects, designers, and homeowners to reimagine interiors where every surface tells a story of light, nature, and refined craftsmanship.
