Sanctuary emerges from a vision to create a home where minimalism and nature coexist in harmony. The design responds to homeowners’ aspirations for a bright, comfortable environment that connects with the outdoors, maximizing natural light and panoramic ocean views. This approach not only enhances spatial perception but also fosters a sense of tranquility, making everyday living feel poetic and expansive.
Distinctive for its single-unit-per-floor layout, Sanctuary offers an elevated duplex lifestyle that prioritizes openness and comfort. The design blurs the boundaries between interior and exterior, utilizing large windows to invite sunlight and the ocean vista indoors. Li Wen Chang’s use of natural materials and a soft, understated color palette—dominated by whites and natural wood—creates a serene atmosphere, while the spiral staircase, adorned with a gold hollow railing, serves as both a functional connector and a sculptural centerpiece.
Technical refinement is evident throughout the project’s 819.83 square meters. The design eschews ornate decoration in favor of sleek, streamlined lines that define each area with clarity. Imported furniture and ambient LED lighting enhance the purity of the space, while segmented lighting circuits and large windows contribute to sustainability by reducing energy consumption and improving ventilation. These thoughtful choices reflect a commitment to both aesthetics and environmental responsibility.
Sanctuary’s realization required overcoming the structural challenges of a raw duplex, particularly the vertical beam structure. Through meticulous planning, Li Wen Chang softened visual imbalances and transformed the spiral staircase into a visual highlight, elevating the home’s sophistication. The result is a space where every detail—from the flow of movement to the interplay of light and material—serves the overarching goal of modern simplicity and comfort.
Recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in 2025, Sanctuary exemplifies industry best practices and technical excellence. The project stands as a testament to the power of minimalist design to evoke fulfillment and positive living, offering a blueprint for residential spaces that aspire to connect deeply with both their inhabitants and their natural surroundings.
Sanctuary invites reflection on how thoughtful design can elevate daily life, encouraging a harmonious balance between function, beauty, and sustainability in contemporary homes.
