Ipick: Redefining Wet Toilet Paper for Comfort and Ease

Innovative design makes single-sheet extraction effortless and hygienic

Ipick, designed by Jobs Chin and team, introduces a groundbreaking approach to wet toilet paper, addressing the needs of individuals with sensitive toileting requirements through enhanced usability and comfort.

Wet toilet paper has become an essential product for those experiencing conditions such as constipation and hemorrhoids, offering relief and improved hygiene. However, traditional wet toilet paper often presents challenges: its soft, non-woven fabric makes it prone to tearing, and the lack of visible sheet edges can result in multiple sheets being pulled out at once, leading to waste and frustration. Ipick tackles these issues with a clever redesign that prioritizes both user comfort and efficiency.

The unique feature of Ipick lies in its patented pattern-embossing process, which creates visible edges on each sheet. This innovation allows users to easily identify and separate individual sheets, minimizing accidental tearing and ensuring a clean, single-sheet extraction every time. The process employs precision rollers to emboss micro-patterns, while a specialized dyeing technique ensures even color distribution and maintains gentleness for sensitive skin.

Research played a crucial role in the development of Ipick. The design team conducted a user-centered study involving 86 adults with toileting issues, combining interviews and product testing. Results were compelling: 90% of participants reported easier sheet separation, and 85% experienced increased comfort. These findings underscore the product’s effectiveness in enhancing both hygiene and user satisfaction.

Market acceptance posed a significant challenge for Ipick, as changing established consumer habits required strategic research and targeted marketing. By focusing on the product’s unique value—visible sheet edges and effortless separation—the team successfully differentiated Ipick from conventional options, leading to recognition at the K-DESIGN AWARD 24 and a Bronze A' Design Award in 2025.

Ipick’s design not only improves the daily experience for individuals with sensitive needs but also sets a new standard in personal care products. Its combination of technical innovation and user-focused research demonstrates how thoughtful design can elevate even the most routine aspects of life, contributing to overall well-being and comfort.

As Ipick continues to gain traction, its approach serves as an inspiring example of how design, technology, and empathy can intersect to solve real-world challenges and enhance quality of life.
