Praise Life: Redefining Urban Elegance in Beijing

Fu Xia crafts a luminous, open home blending sophistication and comfort

Praise Life by Fu Xia transforms a traditional Beijing residence into a sanctuary of effortless elegance, merging innovative spatial design with a human-centered approach for modern urban living.

Fu Xia’s Praise Life project stands as a testament to the evolution of residential design, moving away from rigid, ceremonial French styles toward a more relaxed and sophisticated urban lifestyle. The design philosophy centers on the idea that spaces should serve the needs of daily life, prioritizing comfort, interaction, and effortless beauty. By redefining spatial layouts and breaking away from conventional concepts, the residence fosters a harmonious environment where family connections and personal well-being are paramount.

One of the most striking features of Praise Life is its innovative approach to spatial organization. The project eliminates traditional barriers between the kitchen and living room, resulting in an open, bright expanse that encourages communal living. Modular sofa arrangements and a kitchen with north-south transparency enhance both functionality and aesthetic appeal. The inclusion of a long dining table and an island bar not only maximizes usability but also creates a seamless flow between different zones, reflecting the fusion of natural elements and seasonal changes through thoughtful color and pattern choices.

Artistic expression is woven throughout the residence, with French-style elegance meeting avant-garde art selections. Mirrored surfaces strategically placed within the home reflect outdoor vistas, blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior and inviting moments of contemplation. Classic elements engage in playful dialogue, while intricate floral patterns evoke the charm of Baroque artistry, adding layers of visual intrigue and historical reference.

The technical realization of the project involved a comprehensive reorganization of the original 320-square-meter space. By merging smaller rooms, Fu Xia created multifunctional zones, such as a piano room for the daughter and a spacious, dual-aspect kitchen catering to both Eastern and Western culinary traditions. This approach not only improved natural light and ventilation but also addressed the challenge of low ceiling heights, ensuring logical zoning and optimal comfort without sacrificing aesthetic integrity.

Praise Life’s transformation is rooted in extensive research and a commitment to humanistic values. The design integrates natural aesthetics and refined living principles, resulting in a home that is both visually stunning and deeply functional. The project’s success is underscored by its recognition with the Silver A' Design Award in 2025, celebrating its technical excellence, artistic skill, and innovative spirit.

Praise Life exemplifies how thoughtful design can elevate everyday living, offering a blueprint for future residential projects that aspire to combine sophistication, comfort, and a genuine sense of home.
