Kazhe Lounge: A Desert Oasis of Modern Design

Innovative cafe-restaurant brings cool elegance to Qom’s landscape

Kazhe Lounge stands as a testament to the transformative power of architecture and interior design. Conceived as a refuge from Qom’s desert climate, the space employs cool, dark hues and lush greenery to create a serene atmosphere. Drawing inspiration from the concept of freedom, symbolized by the flamingo, the lounge integrates sculptural elements and broken forms, inviting visitors to experience a sense of escape within the city.

The multifunctional layout of Kazhe Lounge is meticulously crafted to cater to diverse social needs. Spanning 1,078 square meters across three floors, the venue features closed, semi-open, and open areas, each offering a distinct ambiance. Modular seating arrangements and varied ceiling heights enhance flexibility, allowing the space to adapt seamlessly for dining, relaxation, or social gatherings. The design’s adaptability is further emphasized by the interplay of light and shadow, achieved through thoughtful material selection and architectural detailing.

A defining feature of the lounge is its unique chandelier, fashioned from intertwined iron sheets. This sculptural centerpiece, extending across two floors, not only illuminates the space but also serves as a visual focal point, guiding movement and interaction. The use of textured finishes and high-quality paints ensures both durability and aesthetic appeal, maintaining a harmonious contrast with the surrounding desert landscape.

The realization of Kazhe Lounge involved advanced architectural techniques and a commitment to user-centered design. Digital modeling and environmental analysis informed the spatial organization, while collaboration among the design team ensured that both functionality and comfort were prioritized. The project’s completion in early 2024 marks a significant addition to Qom’s urban fabric, providing a modern, sustainable retreat that resonates with both local heritage and contemporary sensibilities.

Overcoming challenges related to cultural context, regulatory constraints, and material sourcing, the design team successfully integrated traditional influences with innovative solutions.
