MyO emerges as a groundbreaking sports wearable suite, designed to address the evolving needs of later Gen Y and Gen Z athletes. Traditional fitness wearables often fall short in delivering muscle-specific, real-time feedback—an essential component for optimizing performance, preventing injuries, and supporting effective recovery. Drawing inspiration from the latest advances in electromyography (EMG) technology and user research, MyO stands out for its commitment to actionable data, modern aesthetics, and sustainable materials.
At the heart of MyO’s innovation is its modular suite, which includes a waist belt, leg strap, and shoulder strap, each embedded with advanced EMG sensors. These devices work in tandem to monitor muscle engagement, fatigue, and form, transmitting data seamlessly to a companion app. The result is a user-friendly experience that empowers athletes and fitness enthusiasts to make informed decisions about their training routines. The modular design allows for easy customization and adjustment, ensuring comfort and adaptability for a wide range of users.
Material selection played a pivotal role in MyO’s development. The use of medical-grade silicone and hypoallergenic fabrics ensures durability, comfort, and eco-consciousness. Additive manufacturing and precision engineering techniques were employed to achieve a perfect fit and reliable functionality. This focus on sustainability and ergonomics reflects the preferences of Gen Y and Gen Z users, who increasingly value minimalistic, environmentally responsible products.
Research for MyO was extensive, involving over 200 questionnaires and 20 interviews with fitness enthusiasts, athletes, and rehabilitation patients. Findings revealed a significant demand for detailed, real-time muscle analytics—capabilities often lacking in mainstream wearables. MyO bridges this gap by making professional-grade EMG technology accessible in a sleek, approachable form. The device’s soft geometric design and modular assembly further enhance its appeal, blending functionality with contemporary style.
MyO’s journey from concept to prototype involved overcoming significant challenges, particularly in integrating complex EMG technology into a compact, ergonomic form. Iterative prototyping and user testing were key to refining the device’s usability and comfort. The resulting product not only meets industrial standards but also resonates with the lifestyle aspirations of its target audience. Recognition came in the form of the Iron A' Wearable Technologies Design Award in 2025, underscoring MyO’s impact on the future of fitness technology.
By combining advanced muscle monitoring, intuitive design, and sustainable materials, MyO sets a new benchmark for sports wearables. Its innovative approach supports users in achieving their fitness goals with precision, comfort, and style, marking a significant step forward in the integration of technology and active lifestyles.
