The food service pavilion at CIIE 2024 was inspired by Hong Kong’s rich cultural tapestry, integrating traditional architectural motifs with modern elements. The two-layer overhead tower, adorned with scrolling LED signage, captured the city’s energetic rhythm and international flair. A curved open wall design created a sense of movement, while vibrant patterns reflected the lively atmosphere of Hong Kong’s bustling streets, making the pavilion a visual focal point within the vast Shanghai National Exhibition and Convention Center.
Distinctive features set these pavilions apart. The Hong Kong products pavilion and the Hong Kong service industry pavilion served as strategic platforms for local enterprises, enabling them to promote branded goods and services with unique ethnic and regional characteristics. This dual-pavilion approach supported Hong Kong companies in expanding their domestic sales within mainland China, offering direct engagement opportunities with buyers and fostering new business partnerships.
Sustainability was central to the design process. The Hktdc Creative Department employed a reusable framing system and advanced LED technology to enhance both physical and digital experiences while minimizing onsite waste. The Product Pavilion featured a two-layer champagne gold metal structure, transparent accent panels, and marble-patterned wall finishes, all illuminated by a dynamic LED display. These choices not only created a warm and modern ambiance but also underscored a commitment to eco-friendly practices.
Spanning approximately 1,000 square meters, the Product Pavilion hosted 44 exhibitors specializing in food and health products. The Service Pavilion, covering around 500 square meters, accommodated 18 exhibitors from professional services and logistics sectors. Both pavilions were designed to maximize visibility and visitor flow, utilizing impactful lighting, strategic layouts, and interactive elements such as live cooking demonstrations and digital displays to engage attendees.
Overcoming logistical challenges, the design team implemented modular planning to expedite installation and reduce complexity. Creative booth details and efficient logistics solutions ensured timely completion despite tight schedules and site restrictions. The emphasis on sustainable materials and practices not only met the organizer’s specifications but also earned the Gold Booth Design Award, highlighting the project’s excellence in both creativity and environmental responsibility.
The Hong Kong Trade Development Council’s dual pavilions at CIIE 2024 exemplified the fusion of tradition and innovation. By promoting products and services with distinctive cultural features in an engaging, sustainable environment, these pavilions enhanced Hong Kong’s profile on the global stage and set a benchmark for future exhibition design.
