The Feathers of Love and Peace residence stands as a testament to the enduring ideals of love and peace, values deeply associated with Pablo Picasso. Jy Architecture channels the spirit of Cubism, infusing the interiors with abstract geometric forms, deconstructed elements, and a vivid color palette. This approach transforms communal areas into dynamic environments, welcoming residents into a space that radiates calm and creative energy.
Central to the design is a striking main staircase, inspired by Cubist art and symbolizing the dove of peace. This architectural centerpiece employs techniques such as hollowing, cutting, stacking, and reorganizing, resulting in a visually compelling structure that embodies movement and harmony. The staircase not only serves as a functional element but also as a sculptural focal point that sets the tone for the entire residence.
The layout of the building is meticulously planned to enhance community interaction. The first floor features a thoughtfully designed reception area, while the second floor offers a cozy lounge and a vibrant children’s playroom, both echoing the warmth and charm of Picasso’s Rose Period. These spaces are crafted to foster a sense of belonging and well-being among residents, encouraging social engagement and relaxation.
Innovation extends to the fitness facilities, where expansive floor-to-ceiling windows frame lush, verdant landscapes. This design choice allows residents to connect with nature during their workouts, promoting holistic well-being and a seamless integration of indoor and outdoor environments. The gym exemplifies how thoughtful design can elevate everyday experiences and support a healthy lifestyle.
Sustainability is at the forefront of the project’s material choices. Renewable wood panels, natural stone, and low-carbon, eco-friendly cement are used throughout, reducing environmental impact and extending the building’s lifespan. These decisions reflect a commitment to both artistic heritage and environmental responsibility, ensuring the residence remains a model for future developments.
Feathers of Love and Peace was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2025, recognizing its blend of practical innovation, technical excellence, and positive contribution to community living. Jy Architecture’s vision demonstrates how art-inspired design can create spaces that nurture the human spirit and foster a sense of peace and unity.
