Kakao AI Campus: Redefining Brand Experience for the Future

Innovative design by LMNT Company inspires community-driven AI learning

Kakao AI Campus, designed by LMNT Company, sets a new standard for corporate spaces by blending advanced brand identity with inclusive community engagement, reflecting the boundless potential of individuals and the future of artificial intelligence.

Located in Seoul, the Kakao AI Campus introduces a fresh paradigm in brand design, moving beyond traditional corporate aesthetics. LMNT Company developed over 50 unique icon assets and dynamic graphics with morphing motion, specifically crafted to resonate with Millennials and Gen Z. This visual language, rooted in the theme of limitless individual potential, forms a multi-dimensional experience system encompassing illustrations, signage, and key visuals. The integration of universal design icons using a visible Exformation approach ensures accessibility and clarity for diverse audiences.

The campus stands out for its commitment to community and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles. Open to Kakao staff, local residents, civic groups, and digitally disadvantaged individuals, the space serves as an inclusive hub for nurturing AI talent. LMNT Company’s comprehensive brand experience (BX) design established operational guidelines and practical programs, fostering an environment that encourages collaboration and self-growth rather than focusing solely on corporate profit. This approach has inspired internal branding and set a benchmark for future corporate campuses.

Technologically, the project leveraged Adobe Illustrator, After Effects, and Photoshop to create refined, transformative graphics. The design reflects insights from customer journey analysis, ensuring that every element—from color schemes to motion graphics—supports a cohesive and impactful experience. The innovative use of color breaks away from Kakao’s traditional palette, maximizing visual impact and reinforcing the campus’s distinct identity.

Functionality is at the core of the design, with a Design For All (DFA) system and Exformation principles guiding the layout and navigation. This ensures that people of all ages, genders, and abilities can easily access and move through the space. The Design as Media concept allows both employees and the public to engage with the organization in new and meaningful ways, highlighting the campus’s role as a platform for discovery and growth.

Research and development for the Kakao AI Campus emphasized adaptability and openness. The guiding principle of Open Imagination shaped a flexible environment that supports diverse needs and fosters collaboration with the local community. This innovative approach has garnered industry recognition, earning the Golden A' Design Award for its outstanding contribution to graphics, illustration, and visual communication.

Kakao AI Campus exemplifies how thoughtful design can drive social impact, inspire creativity, and set new standards for brand experience in the age of artificial intelligence.
