The Level collection draws its essence from the emotional impact of urban landscapes, particularly the initial wonder experienced when encountering modern architecture. Alexey Danilin sought to rekindle this sense of admiration, translating the silhouettes of early 20th-century skyscrapers into a trio of pendant lamps. Each lamp features multi-level glass forms, vertical ornamentation, and amber glass reminiscent of sunrise, evoking the grandeur of New York’s Art Deco era and the atmosphere of The Great Gatsby.
Distinctive in both form and function, the Level lamps are designed to mirror the city’s skyline at sunset. The interplay of materials and light creates a dynamic silhouette, with two LED sources: a lower light for functional illumination and an upper light to highlight the glass’s decorative qualities. The vertical ornamentation on the amber glass enhances the architectural reference, while the translucent quality ensures that even large compositions remain visually light and airy.
Crafted with precision, each lamp is built on a brass-colored metal frame supporting the vertically ornamented amber glass. The LEDs emit a warm 3000K glow, emphasizing the rich tones of the glass and creating a welcoming ambiance. With a scattering angle of 120° and a luminous flux of 1450 lm, the lamps provide both aesthetic and practical lighting solutions. The adjustable 3000 mm wire allows for versatile installation, making the collection suitable for various interior settings, from dining rooms to stairwells.
The design process involved extensive research into the forms and patterns of early skyscrapers, as well as the optical properties of glass and LED technology. Hundreds of archival photographs were analyzed to capture the essence of city skylines at sunset. The addition of a second light source was a direct response to the need for enhanced decorative illumination, while the choice of vertical ornamentation was informed by its ability to create captivating light play without disrupting the overall silhouette.
Level’s versatility is further demonstrated by its adaptability to different interior styles and configurations. The restrained shapes and subtle ornamentation allow the lamps to blend seamlessly into contemporary, classic, or eclectic spaces. Whether used individually or in clusters, the lamps offer endless possibilities for creative compositions, making them a standout feature in both residential and commercial environments.
Recognized for its innovative approach and technical excellence, the Level collection received the Silver A' Lighting Products and Fixtures Design Award in 2025. This accolade highlights the collection’s ability to evoke emotion, showcase artistic skill, and introduce a sense of wonder to everyday spaces.
By capturing the fleeting beauty of urban skylines and translating it into functional art, Alexey Danilin’s Level pendant lamps invite users to rediscover the magic of their surroundings, turning familiar places into sources of inspiration and delight.
