Located in the vibrant neighborhood of Juhu, Mumbai, 4.56 JVPD stands as a testament to modern luxury living. Designed by Prashant Chauhan, this residential project addresses the common challenge of limited space in Mumbai apartments by offering large, column-free interiors and private lift access to each home. The building’s design ensures that every apartment enjoys abundant natural light, enhanced by generous open windows and thoughtfully positioned balconies on the east facade to capture the morning sun.
The architectural layout features a unique configuration: one apartment per floor and two duplex units, providing exclusivity and privacy for residents. The absence of internal columns, made possible by advanced post-tensioned slab technology, allows for complete flexibility in interior planning. This approach not only maximizes usable space but also enables homeowners to tailor their living environments according to personal preferences, a rare luxury in densely populated urban settings.
Standing 52.9 meters tall, the building comprises five podium levels and ten residential floors, each apartment measuring 27.5 meters in length and 10.5 meters in breadth. The project’s realization required overcoming significant technical challenges, particularly height restrictions imposed by the site’s location under an airport funnel zone. By employing post-tensioned slabs, the design team successfully minimized beam depths, thus increasing interior headroom and spatial quality.
The construction process spanned four years, beginning with the excavation of basement levels and progressing to the main structure. The design’s focus on cross-ventilation and daylight ensures that each residence benefits from a healthy, uplifting atmosphere. According to Prashant Chauhan, the column-free floor plates and open layouts are central to the project’s vision of providing a truly luxurious and adaptable living experience in Mumbai’s urban context.
4.56 JVPD has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in Architecture, Building, and Structure Design for 2025. This accolade highlights the project’s integration of industry best practices, technical innovation, and commitment to enhancing quality of life. The building not only sets a new standard for luxury apartments in Mumbai but also serves as an inspiring example of how thoughtful design can transform urban living.
