The 4.56 lobby, designed by Prashant Chauhan, draws inspiration from the timeless elegance of the black and white era. Large white surfaces dominate the space, while black is thoughtfully introduced through curated artworks from various artists. This approach transforms the lobby into a gallery-like environment, where art and architecture coexist harmoniously.
One of the standout features of the lobby is its emphasis on natural daylight. Surrounded by expansive glass, the space is bathed in sunlight, enhancing the brightness created by the all-white walls and grey flooring. The non-rectangular layout, measuring 8.5 meters in length, 7.3 meters in width, and 3 meters in height, offers a unique spatial experience. Residents are welcomed directly to their apartments via a private lift, ensuring both exclusivity and convenience.
Technological innovation is at the heart of the 4.56 lobby’s realization. Advanced CAD-CAM techniques were employed to craft the parametric wave forms that define the space, while a robotic arm was used to sculpt the fluid, visually striking bench. This seamless integration of digital fabrication and design artistry results in a lobby that is both functional and visually captivating.
The design pays homage to Mumbai’s Juhu beach, with a large artwork behind the reception desk replicating the movement of sea waves. Extensive research went into selecting and curating abstract paintings that complement the monochrome palette, further elevating the lobby’s artistic identity. Overcoming the challenge of maintaining an all-white interior, the design achieves a sense of brightness and visual lightness without compromising on warmth or sophistication.
Recognized for its creative ingenuity, the 4.56 lobby was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2025, a testament to its excellence in combining art, science, and technology. Prashant Chauhan’s vision not only enhances the quality of life for residents but also sets a new benchmark for luxury interior design in urban India.
This project stands as a celebration of daylight, minimalism, and artistic collaboration, offering a serene yet dynamic welcome to all who enter.
