Drawing from the vastness of the universe and the boundless potential of books, Li Xiang’s Huai'an Zhongshuge offers a unique interpretation of interior architecture. The design echoes the city’s urban culture while symbolizing humanity’s quest for knowledge, using celestial forms and orbital patterns as its guiding motifs. The core concept centers on the universe, realized through the use of traditional wood and surreal planetary installations that span two floors. Li Xiang overcame significant spatial and technical challenges by employing advanced 3D modeling and computational simulations. These tools enabled precise adjustments, ensuring both structural stability and a visually striking environment. The result is a seamless integration of display, reading, and leisure spaces, all embedded within an astronomical framework.

Inside, exaggerated three-dimensional forms dominate the landscape. Concentric rings and irregular geometric structures evoke the mechanics of celestial bodies, while bookshelves curve and spiral like planetary orbits. This dynamic arrangement not only enhances the visual narrative but also encourages visitors to embark on a metaphorical journey through infinite worlds. Scattered books nestled within sculptural shelves further reinforce the theme of exploration and discovery.

The bookstore’s innovative design has garnered international acclaim, earning the prestigious Platinum A' Design Award in 2025. This recognition highlights the project’s exceptional creativity, technical mastery, and contribution to the advancement of interior space design.
