Lagoon draws its inspiration from the mesmerizing interplay of blue-green Aegean waves and golden sands, reflecting the harmony found in both nature and ancient Greek architecture. The design channels the spirit of classical temples and mythology, creating a kitchen space that feels both sacred and inviting. Hellenistic carvings, bronze accents, and handcrafted cabinet doors evoke the artistry of antiquity, while the use of Volakas marble and solid wood grounds the space in natural luxury.
Distinctive features set Lagoon apart in the world of kitchen design. The island unit, crafted from natural materials and adorned with Hellenistic-style sculptures, serves as the centerpiece. Bronze legs and oxidized copper cabinet doors showcase artisanal craftsmanship, while glass-fronted cabinets add a touch of modern transparency. The integration of advanced technologies, such as Servotronic automatic drawers and single-finger door systems, ensures that comfort and convenience are never compromised.
The realization of Lagoon combines traditional handcraft techniques with state-of-the-art production methods. CNC machining and meticulous hand carving bring the mythological motifs to life, while a special copper oxidation process lends unique character to the cabinetry. The kitchen’s technical specifications include an automatic lift system for upper cabinets, soft-on fade-to-black lighting, and independent cooking units that elevate meal preparation to an art form.
Functionality is at the heart of Lagoon’s design philosophy. Hidden handles allow for seamless operation, and the island’s varying heights accommodate diverse activities, from food preparation to social gatherings. The lift-up extractor hood rises elegantly from the countertop, maintaining visual openness while providing practical ventilation. These thoughtful details ensure that every interaction within the kitchen is both intuitive and aesthetically pleasing.
Lagoon’s journey began in the ancient city of Ephesus, with extensive research into Greek architecture and sculpture. Field studies at archaeological sites along the Aegean coast informed the design’s proportions and ornamentation, ensuring authenticity and historical resonance. Overcoming the challenge of merging handcrafted artistry with modern technology, Yilmaz Dogan’s creation stands as a testament to innovation rooted in heritage.
Recognized with the Silver A' Design Award in 2025, Lagoon exemplifies excellence in kitchen furniture and fixtures. The design’s fusion of classical beauty and contemporary function invites admiration, offering a unique experience that celebrates both the past and the future of living spaces.
