At the heart of the Sayyida Ahad Al Busaidiyah Foundation’s new visual identity lies the Arcadia logo, a creation by Shadi Al Hroub that blends symbolism and simplicity. The design takes its cue from the Arcadia white flower, a motif cherished by Her Majesty Sayyida Ahad Al Busaidiyah. Each of the five petals represents a core pillar of the foundation: women, special needs, environment, anti-bullying, and the disadvantaged. This thoughtful approach ensures the logo communicates not just the foundation’s areas of focus, but also its commitment to growth, hope, and empowerment.
Distinctive in its minimalism, the Arcadia logo stands out for its ability to convey complex ideas through elegant design. The petals, while visually unified, subtly hint at the foundation’s multifaceted mission. The logo’s color palette features soft, natural tones, reflecting the purity and resilience associated with the Arcadia flower. According to Shadi Al Hroub, the design process involved extensive research into the flower’s symbolism and iterative collaboration with stakeholders to ensure emotional resonance and clarity.
Technically, the logo was realized using vector-based software, such as Adobe Illustrator, allowing for scalability and versatility across various platforms. The 1:1 aspect ratio ensures adaptability for both digital and print applications, from large banners to social media avatars. Multiple file formats, including EPS, PNG, and JPEG, were produced to meet diverse usage requirements, demonstrating a practical understanding of modern branding needs.
The Arcadia logo’s function extends beyond aesthetics. Serving as the central visual element of the foundation’s identity, it appears on all communication materials, including websites, brochures, and merchandise. Its simplicity makes it instantly recognizable, while the layered symbolism encourages viewers to engage with the foundation’s mission. This interactive quality invites the audience to explore the meaning behind each petal, fostering a deeper connection with the foundation’s work.
The project, initiated in Oman in May 2022 and completed by July 2022, faced creative challenges in visually uniting five distinct focus areas within a cohesive design. Through research, interviews, and iterative refinement, the final logo successfully balances elegance with depth. The Arcadia logo has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in 2025, honoring its innovative approach and positive impact on community identity.
By integrating symbolism, technical precision, and emotional resonance, the Arcadia logo stands as a testament to the power of thoughtful design in advancing social missions. Its presence not only elevates the Sayyida Ahad Al Busaidiyah Foundation’s brand but also inspires hope and unity within the communities it serves.
