Mira, designed by Rosadela Serulle, stands as a testament to the power of cultural convergence in interior design. Drawing inspiration from the Sanskrit word for "hundred plus rainbows," the apartment embodies a vibrant yet sophisticated atmosphere. The interplay of black accents against light materials and soft textures infuses each space with a sense of balance and depth, while the fusion of oriental motifs and modern sensibilities creates a timeless elegance throughout the residence.
What sets Mira apart is its meticulous attention to detail and the thoughtful integration of textures and materials. The living room wall, a highlight of the design, features laser-cut wooden panels crafted in five unique patterns. These panels fit together like a puzzle, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship and creativity. The use of wood, imported white marble, and light fabrics not only adds warmth but also reinforces the narrative woven into every wall treatment, imbuing the apartment with distinct personality and charm.
Spanning approximately 574 square meters, Mira is thoughtfully divided into social and private zones. The expansive social area includes a 21m² terrace, a 52m² living room, a 32m² study, a 30m² dining room, and dual kitchens, each tailored for both functionality and comfort. Bedrooms range from 20m² to 30m², ensuring spaciousness without compromising intimacy. Every detail, from over-dimensional lighting fixtures to bespoke furniture crafted by local artisans, reflects a commitment to both luxury and livability.
The realization of Mira demanded a high level of finishing and a harmonious balance of elements. The designer’s collaboration with local craftsmen ensured that each built-in furniture piece met exacting standards. Sustainability was also a priority, with environmentally conscious features integrated seamlessly into the design. The project, completed in just five months, demonstrates how a clear vision and dedicated execution can overcome even the most demanding creative and technical challenges.
Research played a pivotal role in shaping Mira’s identity. By exploring the cultural significance of materials like white marble and traditional Asian motifs, the design achieves both authenticity and innovation. The result is an apartment that feels both rooted in tradition and forward-looking, offering a unique living experience in one of Santo Domingo’s most prestigious neighborhoods.
Recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in 2025, Mira exemplifies how thoughtful design can elevate everyday living. The project not only fulfills professional and industrial standards but also delivers a sense of fulfillment and positivity, setting a new benchmark for residential interiors that celebrate both heritage and modernity.
