DA Architects Ltd Redefines Office Space for NN Pharmaceutical

Contemporary design blends comfort, collaboration, and Scandinavian minimalism

The design of the NN Pharmaceutical office draws inspiration from the concept of fluid, inviting spaces that maintain a strong sense of human scale. DA Architects Ltd selected a color palette and materials to evoke a cozy, residential feel, while sculptural forms and subtle color coding distinguish functional areas. This approach results in a contemporary aesthetic that is both striking and welcoming, reflecting the company’s commitment to employee comfort and productivity.

Unique to this project is its focus on fostering collaboration and teamwork through spatial diversity. The office, spanning approximately 1,500 square meters, features zones dedicated to focus work, teamwork, social interaction, knowledge exchange, and meetings. These areas are strategically distributed along the main circulation path, allowing employees to seamlessly transition between different work modes and encouraging spontaneous interaction and idea sharing.

Realization of the design involved a research-driven, user-centric methodology. DA Architects Ltd conducted workplace strategy analyses, emphasizing flexibility, acoustics, and natural light. Materials such as wood, felt, and textiles were chosen for their warmth and sound-absorbing qualities, while industrial elements preserved the building’s character. The resulting balance of structured and organic forms creates an intuitive, adaptable workspace that supports both individual and collective needs.

Comprehensive research underpinned every design decision. Surveys, interviews, and spatial simulations identified the necessity for flexible layouts, enhanced natural light, and effective noise control. These insights informed the zoning and ergonomic choices, directly contributing to improved workplace efficiency and employee well-being. The project also overcame significant challenges, including resistance to open-plan layouts and spatial constraints, by integrating familiar elements and Scandinavian minimalism tailored to local work culture.

The NN Pharmaceutical office by DA Architects Ltd has garnered international recognition, winning the Silver A' Design Award in 2025 for its innovative approach and technical excellence.
