Drawing from the rich history of Persian architecture, Morphknock pays homage to the symbolic door knockers that once adorned Iranian homes. These knockers, often symmetrical and influenced by Islamic geometry, represented hospitality and security. By translating these motifs into wearable art, the collection bridges cultural heritage and contemporary design, offering a fresh perspective on traditional forms.
The standout feature of Morphknock lies in its adaptability. The piece transforms seamlessly into a necklace, bracelet, or ring, thanks to a sophisticated mechanism that allows for rotation and folding. Double-sided gemstones—malachite, lapis lazuli, and black onyx—evoke the deep hues and patinas of ancient materials, while a reversible leather strap enables effortless customization. The Art Deco–inspired metalwork further elevates the design, adding a layer of elegance and geometric precision.
Meticulously crafted from 18-carat yellow gold, Morphknock incorporates a movable central axis set with raised-cut gemstones and accented by white diamonds. Advanced step hinges ensure smooth transitions between forms, with each component—arms, axis, and pin—assembled for both durability and aesthetic harmony. Rigorous testing and quality control guarantee the jewelry’s flawless movement and lasting craftsmanship.
Functionality is at the heart of Morphknock’s design. The central axis, reminiscent of a door knocker’s mechanism, allows the wearer to alternate gemstone colors. When worn as a ring, the upper sections fold to form the shank; as a necklace, the arches reposition to accommodate a chain. The reversible leather strap slides through loops for easy conversion into a bracelet, ensuring versatility for any occasion.
The creation of Morphknock involved three months of research, ideation, and technical development in Istanbul, culminating in a piece that honors both tradition and innovation. Historical studies revealed that Persian door knockers not only signified cultural values but also featured gender-specific designs, a detail subtly referenced in the jewelry’s modularity. Overcoming the challenge of integrating precise mechanical movement with aesthetic integrity, the design stands as a testament to thoughtful engineering and artistic vision.
Recognized with the Iron A' Jewelry Design Award in 2025, Morphknock exemplifies the fusion of practical innovation and cultural storytelling. This award highlights its success in meeting professional standards while delivering emotional resonance and contributing to the evolution of wearable art.
Morphknock invites wearers to celebrate heritage through contemporary design, offering a versatile accessory that adapts to modern lifestyles while preserving the spirit of its architectural inspiration.
