Xloop emerges as a pioneering commercial loop, reimagining the shopping mall as a borderless, organic environment. Drawing inspiration from the idea of limitless possibilities, Junwei Shen’s design dissolves the boundaries between humanity, nature, and commerce. The project’s 80,000-square-meter footprint is centered around a tranquil lake, linking twelve architectural clusters and seventeen sunken plazas. This layout unifies sprawling spaces with a consistent design language, creating a harmonious urban sanctuary that encourages exploration and social interaction.
The design’s unique properties lie in its ability to blend large-scale environments, ecological landscapes, and diverse functionalities into a cohesive experience. Xloop’s progression of spatial scenarios—ranging from tranquil gardens to dynamic exhibition halls—redefines how visitors connect with commercial spaces. The commercial loop acts as both a physical and conceptual gateway, guiding visitors through thoughtfully curated journeys that enrich their experience and foster a sense of community.
Technological innovation is at the heart of Xloop’s realization. Along the active axis of the loop corridor, three thematic spaces are seamlessly connected: the Garden of Light, the World of Tomorrow, and the Tang-inspired Gathering. Each space offers a distinct atmosphere, from the futuristic microcosm where technology and artistry converge, to the seasonal cycle of the Garden of Light, which draws on the 24 Chinese solar terms to evoke the changing rhythms of nature.
Situated in Xiongan’s startup district, Xloop positions itself as the area’s premier innovation-driven social experience center. The design is infused with local cultural and humanistic characteristics, catering to young, dynamic demographics and quality-focused families. By prioritizing art-centric commerce and vibrant community interactions, Xloop creates a high-quality social lifestyle destination that stands apart from conventional retail developments.
The project overcame significant challenges, particularly in integrating its dispersed ring-shaped layout into a cohesive, interconnected experience. Junwei Shen’s visionary framework harmonizes vast urban ecosystems through unified design principles, interweaving environmental scale, ecological balance, and multifunctional zones. This approach not only elevates experiential layering but also transforms the relationship between commerce and community, setting a new benchmark for retail architecture.
Xloop’s innovative design has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design for 2025. This accolade highlights its creative ingenuity, technical excellence, and contribution to quality of life improvements, cementing its status as a model for future urban commercial spaces.
