Statistics reveal a stark reality: every eight seconds, a child dies due to a lack of clean water, and in many developing regions, 80% of the population cannot access safe drinking water. The absence of electricity further compounds daily hardships, limiting opportunities for study and safe travel after dark. Aquacendo responds to these intertwined needs with a design that is both innovative and compassionate.
The standout feature of Aquacendo is its multifunctional cap, which integrates a solar-powered LED light. When filled, the bottle uses water to diffuse the light, creating a gentle, effective glow. This inventive approach not only maximizes the utility of the product but also transforms a simple bottle into a beacon of hope for children in remote areas. The modular design allows for interchangeable parts, enhancing both flexibility and longevity.
Technically, Aquacendo excels in filtration, removing 99.99% of bacteria and contaminants, as verified by laboratory tests. The lighting system offers three modes: low brightness, high brightness, and an SOS flashing signal, making it adaptable for various situations, from studying at night to emergency signaling. The bottle is available in two sizes—560ml and 915ml—catering to different needs.
Sustainability is at the core of Aquacendo’s design. The bottle is crafted from recyclable RPET and eco-friendly silicone, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Its modularity and color options make it suitable for diverse scenarios, including outdoor adventures. The project also supports a “Buy One, Give One” model, extending its impact to communities in need.
Since its launch in 2024, Aquacendo has made a tangible difference. The first shipment to Burkina Faso was met with enthusiastic feedback, with local children praising the improvement in their daily lives. The design has garnered international recognition, winning the Golden A' Social Design Award in 2025 for its outstanding contribution to social innovation.
By merging essential functions with thoughtful design, Aquacendo stands as a testament to the power of creativity in addressing global challenges. Its success highlights the potential for design to not only solve problems but also inspire hope and resilience in the world’s most vulnerable communities.
