Perched high above the bustling cityscape of Zhubei, the I Land residence stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of minimalist design. Yu Fen Lee, the visionary behind this project, crafted a home that prioritizes spatial essence, natural light, and unobstructed views. The open terrace and panoramic windows create the sensation of floating above the city, while the interior’s rational layout reflects the homeowner’s desire for a timeless, trend-resistant sanctuary.
Central to the design is a carefully planned axis that organizes both the layout and the flow of daily life. The integration of pipelines and cabinetry into a unified system optimizes sightlines and subtly separates social and private zones. An innovative N-shaped storage structure, complete with hidden soft-close hardware, maintains a clean aesthetic while providing ample storage. Rounded-edge cabinetry at the foyer welcomes visitors, guiding them seamlessly into the open-plan living, dining, and study areas.
The material palette enhances the residence’s calming atmosphere. Mineral-textured plaster walls interact with light to cast a soft, diffused glow, contrasting elegantly with glossy tiled floors. Custom cabinetry in light-toned KD wood veneer, paired with stone-patterned tiles, metal, and glass, underscores the modern minimalist ethos. The color scheme—composed of 30% low-saturation tones and 70% colorless elements—creates a layered visual experience that feels both tranquil and sophisticated.
Spanning 145 square meters, the layout was reorganized from scratch to optimize flow and connectivity. The right side of the residence houses the social spaces, including a study that connects to the master bedroom to maximize natural light. On the left, private areas for parents and children ensure comfort and privacy while fostering family connection. This thoughtful arrangement evokes the ambiance of a luxury club, balancing openness with intimacy.
Storage solutions are seamlessly integrated, with invisible, pocket-like cabinetry preserving both circulation and order. The family of four who inhabits the space has praised its ability to remain uncluttered despite generous storage, attributing this to the design’s innovative approach. Panoramic mountain and city views, coupled with exceptional natural lighting, create an environment that is both rejuvenating and peaceful—a daily retreat from urban life.
The I Land residence, completed in February 2022, has garnered acclaim for its harmonious blend of art, architecture, and technology. Awarded Bronze in the 2025 A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award, the project exemplifies how thoughtful design can enhance quality of life, offering a floating sanctuary where form and function coexist in perfect balance.
