Located in Ecoville, Curitiba, the Sunrise Apartment offers a tranquil escape from city life while maintaining a strong connection to its urban context. Overlooking Barigui Park and the city skyline, the 320m² residence is a testament to contemporary Brazilian design, blending essentialist principles with a refined aesthetic. The project’s soft palette, natural oak veneer, and limestone surfaces create a light and cozy atmosphere, while the open layout enhances the sense of spaciousness and serenity.
Natural light plays a central role in the apartment’s design, with large windows and a carefully curated color scheme amplifying brightness throughout the space. The integration of living areas fosters fluid circulation and visual harmony, allowing residents to experience a seamless transition between different zones. Custom millwork, meticulously designed using Building Information Modeling (BIM), ensures both visual continuity and practical functionality, reinforcing the minimalist ethos of the project.
Signature elements such as the custom gourmet table and the Dolomite Armchair—both designed by Gabriela Casagrande and inspired by the Serra Paranaense—add unique character and a sense of lightness to the interiors. These exclusive pieces not only serve as focal points but also enhance the sensory experience, promoting comfort and well-being through ergonomic design and tactile materials.
Neuroarchitecture principles guided the selection of materials and colors, aiming to evoke calmness and support the mental health of residents. The project’s emphasis on sustainability is evident in the use of natural, locally sourced materials and the strategic integration of natural lighting to improve thermal comfort, particularly suited to Curitiba’s humid subtropical climate.
Achieving seamless millwork integration posed a significant design challenge, requiring a balance between form and function. The result is a harmonious environment where built-in and loose furniture coexist without visual clutter, preserving the minimalist essence while offering flexibility and comfort. The Sunrise Apartment stands as a model of how thoughtful design can elevate daily living, inviting contemplation and togetherness in every detail.
Recognized with the Silver A' Design Award in 2025, the Sunrise Apartment exemplifies excellence in interior space design. Gabriela Casagrande’s approach demonstrates how architecture can foster well-being, simplicity, and timeless elegance in modern urban homes.
