Veins of Stone: A Symphony of Marble and Light

Inspired by a client’s desire for a fresh start rooted in personal identity, the design draws from a dramatic marble selection characterized by dark hues and metallic sheens. The marble’s bold, flowing patterns serve as both visual anchor and artistic statement, setting the tone for a home where emotion and environment are seamlessly intertwined. This approach establishes a living space that is as much a gallery of natural beauty as it is a functional retreat.

The residence stands apart through its meticulous connection to nature and its innovative use of materials. A sculptural marble island commands the central living space, while full-height windows frame panoramic views of the creek and forest, turning the landscape into ever-changing living art. Smart systems and hidden structures ensure effortless operation, and custom illuminated storage solutions elevate the interior beyond conventional residential design, blending function with refined aesthetics.

Realization of the project demanded extraordinary attention to detail. Natural marble was mockup tested six times to achieve perfect grain alignment, while stainless steel cabinetry, low iron glass, and brushed metal finishes were integrated for both durability and tactile richness. A custom-engineered, 150 cm motorized entrance door balances substantial weight with smooth motion, and advanced smart systems synchronize lighting, climate, and sound for a cohesive living experience.

Spanning 165 square meters, the home includes three bedrooms, two living areas, and a kitchen layered with premium materials and eco-certified wood for healthier indoor air. Bathrooms feature stainless steel cabinetry for durability and recyclability, supporting circular economy principles. Smart systems manage lighting and air conditioning for energy efficiency, while the marble island’s base incorporates glass display cabinets with concealed lighting, further emphasizing the interplay of material and light.

Interaction within the space is carefully choreographed. The master suite’s full-height windows and cushioned bay invite moments of quiet retreat, while a concealed door leads to a boutique-style dressing room with curated displays. Corridors evolve into feature walls with dark cabinetry and glowing shelves, where light traces the grains of stone and wood, blending daily function with visual poetry. These elements create a seamless dialogue between craftsmanship, technology, and the natural world.

Veins of Stone exemplifies how thoughtful research, technical innovation, and collaborative problem-solving can elevate residential design. The project’s challenges—such as engineering the large motorized door and achieving precise marble alignment—became defining achievements, ultimately earning the design a Silver A' Design Award in 2025.
