Romance Syrup: Celebrating Modern Femininity in Packaging

Romance syrup, designed by Mohammadreza Eslamparast, brings a fresh perspective to beverage packaging by merging cultural identity, artistic innovation, and practical design. This award-winning project stands out for its unique blend of modern illustration and functional elegance, tailored specifically for vibrant social settings.

The Romance syrup bottle draws inspiration from its evocative name, featuring feminine curves and labels adorned with the faces of modern Indian women. This design choice not only reflects the brand’s romantic ethos but also pays homage to its Indian roots, creating a strong visual narrative that resonates with contemporary consumers. The use of cubist, 2D vector illustrations marks a departure from conventional fruit imagery, setting the product apart in a crowded market.

Color plays a central role in the design, with each of the 30 flavors represented by lively, harmonious palettes. These vibrant hues are intended to evoke feelings of happiness and energy, making the bottles ideal for parties and cafes. The labels are printed on matte adhesive paper using a narrow web Flexo machine, allowing for rich, multi-color designs that maintain visual clarity despite the limited label space.

Functionality is at the heart of the bottle’s form. Its tall, narrow shape ensures an easy grip, while the ROPP cap allows for controlled pouring—features that enhance the user experience in fast-paced social environments. The design process involved extensive research into global syrup packaging trends, revealing a gap for innovative, cubist-inspired visuals. This insight led to the adoption of half-labeling, balancing aesthetics with practicality.

One of the main challenges faced by the design team was maintaining a cohesive identity across a wide range of flavors. The solution lay in the use of consistent illustration styles and carefully curated color schemes, ensuring each variant felt unique yet unmistakably part of the Romance family. The compact label size further pushed the team to communicate flavor and mood through imagery rather than text, resulting in a visually engaging and intuitive product line.

Romance syrup’s packaging has not only elevated the brand’s market presence but also earned international recognition, winning the Silver A' Packaging Design Award in 2025. This achievement underscores the project’s excellence in both artistic expression and technical execution, offering a new standard for beverage packaging that celebrates culture, innovation, and joy.
