Luxorbis: Illuminating Spaces with Floating Serenity

Alireza Salimi’s accent lamp blends nature and precision in light

Drawing inspiration from organic forms and ancient craftsmanship, Luxorbis by Alireza Salimi redefines decorative lighting through a harmonious interplay of light, shadow, and form.

Luxorbis stands as a testament to the fusion of nature’s fluidity and geometric rigor. Encased within a transparent cylindrical glass, three meticulously patterned orbs appear to float in midair, their vertical arrangement evoking the gentle descent of sunlight through a forest canopy. This design captures the essence of adventure and tranquility, inviting viewers to explore the mysterious dance of illumination and shadow within its structure.

The lamp’s unique character lies in its glowing orbs, each adorned with intricate perforations that cast dynamic, shifting patterns across surrounding surfaces. These details foster a calming ambiance, while the interplay of light and shadow encourages curiosity and contemplation. The careful balance of sculptural beauty—whether the lamp is on or off—ensures that Luxorbis remains a captivating centerpiece in any setting.

Precision laser cutting enables the creation of consistent, highly detailed metal orbs, while the glass casing is crafted to exacting standards for optimal clarity. This meticulous construction not only enhances the diffusion of light but also ensures the stability of the floating spheres, even when the lamp is moved. A concealed on/off button beneath the base preserves the lamp’s seamless appearance, while a glowing ring at the base adds to its luminous harmony.

Interaction with Luxorbis is designed to be intuitive and engaging. Users are encouraged to approach the lamp from different angles, discovering new patterns and layers of light with each perspective. The soft, ambient glow is ideal for creating a peaceful atmosphere, making the lamp suitable for both relaxation and introspective moments. The design’s technical sophistication is matched by its user-friendly operation, with features such as wired charging integrated discreetly to maintain aesthetic integrity.

Luxorbis is the result of extensive research into the suspension and alignment of light sources within decorative forms. The project, completed in Tehran between September 2024 and January 2025, overcame challenges related to maintaining vertical light flow and visual continuity. The addition of a delicately visible supporting wire and a glowing base ring exemplifies the thoughtful problem-solving that defines this award-winning creation.

Recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in 2025, Luxorbis exemplifies the integration of innovative design, technical excellence, and emotional resonance. Its presence elevates interiors, offering not just illumination but an invitation to pause, reflect, and appreciate the subtle beauty of light in motion.
