Tranquil Oasis: Redefining Commercial Lobbies with Nature

Biophilic design and modular luxury transform Hong Kong’s lobby spaces

Tranquil Oasis, designed by Artta Concept Studio, reimagines the commercial lobby as a sanctuary of calm amid urban energy. Drawing on biophilic design principles, the project integrates natural textures, warm earthy tones, and lush greenery to create a welcoming ambiance. The design’s inspiration stems from organic architecture and serene landscapes, with minimalist geometric forms and jewelry-like accents subtly referencing Scandinavian luxury.

What sets Tranquil Oasis apart is its harmonious blend of artistic flair and functional adaptability. The use of textured stone, rich wood finishes, and integrated live plants fosters a sense of tranquility, while modular elements allow the space to flexibly accommodate lobbies ranging from 60 to 300 square meters. This adaptability ensures that each lobby, regardless of size, maintains a cohesive and inviting atmosphere.

Precise craftsmanship is evident throughout the project, with every detail meticulously considered. Jewelry-like accessories add a touch of opulence without overwhelming the understated elegance of the space. The lighting design employs warm, adjustable LEDs to enhance the natural palette and create a soothing environment suitable for both relaxation and productivity.

Research played a pivotal role in shaping Tranquil Oasis. The design team, led by Arthur Tang, Natalie Chan, and Chloe Yiu, studied user movement and emotional responses within lobby environments. Insights revealed that natural materials and warm colors significantly reduce stress and improve comfort. Feedback from users informed the selection of materials and the development of flexible, modular systems that ensure a seamless experience across different locations.

Overcoming challenges such as sourcing consistent natural materials and achieving luxury across diverse lobby sizes, Artta Concept Studio implemented flexible design systems and conducted detailed material studies. The result is a space that not only elevates the aesthetic of commercial lobbies but also enhances well-being for all who enter.

Recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in 2025, Tranquil Oasis exemplifies how thoughtful design can improve quality of life, making commercial spaces both beautiful and functional.
