Drawing from the rhythmic compression and expansion of an accordion, Yuqi Wang envisioned a sofa that could easily change shape and size, minimizing the need for multiple specifications and maximizing versatility. Constructed from high-resilience compressible foam, the Accordion sofa features wooden side panels connected by robust climbing ropes and adjustable knobs. Users can rotate these knobs to tighten the internal ropes, allowing the side panels to compress the sofa and alter its shape. This intuitive mechanism not only enables a variety of seating arrangements but also allows the sofa to be compressed for flat-pack packaging. The result is a product that is both easy to transport and store, significantly reducing packaging, warehousing, and logistics costs.

Measuring W890*D1150*H700mm in its expanded form, the sofa can be compressed to just W230*D1150*H700mm—less than half its original volume. This compactness makes it possible to fit the sofa into a shopping cart or carry it on the back, enhancing portability and convenience for consumers.
