Lipa: Redefining Fine Dining in Al Ahsa

Luxury meets sustainability in a distinctive restaurant design by Moshary AlHolaibi and Ilyas Davarci

Located in the heart of Al Ahsa Province, Lipa addresses the region’s growing demand for high-class dining. The vision behind the project is to establish a globally recognized restaurant that celebrates local heritage while delivering exceptional design and service. This approach ensures guests experience both a world-class atmosphere and a deep sense of connection to the region’s unique character.

The design concept is built on the dynamic interplay between rugged, industrial materials and luxurious finishes. Polished concrete, steel, and stone cladding are paired with finely crafted woodwork, creating a tactile environment that feels both authentic and sophisticated. This contrast not only enhances the visual appeal but also grounds the dining experience in earthy, bold aesthetics, providing a memorable backdrop for every meal.

Sustainability is at the core of Lipa’s realization. The project prioritizes natural materials with low emissions, such as real marble, E1 class MDF wood veneers, and resilient fabrics. Local sourcing is emphasized, reducing the carbon footprint and supporting regional industries. The design process involved extensive market research, quality assurance through mock-ups, and collaboration with local contractors to ensure both aesthetic and functional goals were met.

Spanning 600 square meters, with a dedicated 350-square-meter kitchen, Lipa is housed within a modern five-story commercial building. The integration of advanced mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems ensures operational efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of comfort and safety. The restaurant’s rich, dark color palette, inspired by local hues like cinnamon and desert gray, reflects the spirit of the region and complements the chef’s heartfelt approach to cuisine.

Lipa’s design philosophy centers on creating an undistracted tasting journey, where every detail supports the culinary experience. The absence of glass barriers between guests and their food allows for an intimate connection with each dish. Artisan touches and a welcoming ambiance invite diners to savor not only the flavors but also the warmth of home. This dedication to excellence was recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in 2025, highlighting Lipa’s remarkable innovation and artistic skill.
