The Genipabu Sideboard draws its inspiration from the mesmerizing Genipabu Dunes in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte. These natural formations, sculpted by the wind, create ever-changing, rhythmic landscapes that have long captivated visitors. Estudio Galho channels this fluidity and movement into the sideboard’s design, using sinuous curves and textured surfaces that echo the dunes’ enchanting shapes.
One of the most distinctive features of the Genipabu Sideboard is its integrated wine storage. The rhythmic triangular structures not only serve as a practical wine rack but also mirror the dynamic formations of the dunes, creating a visual connection to the natural world. The door handles, meticulously sculpted with smooth, flowing lines, further reinforce the theme, making the piece both functional and visually striking.
Crafted with a commitment to sustainability, the sideboard’s base structure is made from MDF coated with natural wood veneers, while the external parts utilize certified solid wood. Advanced CNC machining is employed for the upper wine rack, ensuring precision and quality. The entire piece is finished with a semi-gloss carnauba wax, a natural product derived from the Carnaúba palm, offering an eco-friendly and durable surface.
Measuring 2100 x 500 x 680 mm, the Genipabu Sideboard is the result of a collaborative effort between Estudio Galho and Movew, with design and technical development taking place in both Natal and João Pessoa. The project showcases the talents of designers Klivisson Campelo and Edson Martone, who have successfully fused form and function in a tribute to Brazil’s natural beauty.
Recognized with the prestigious Platinum A' Design Award, the Genipabu Sideboard stands as a testament to world-class innovation and aesthetic excellence. This accolade highlights its contribution to advancing the boundaries of design, art, and technology, while also promoting sustainability and emotional connection through furniture.
The Genipabu Sideboard exemplifies how nature’s artistry can inspire functional design, offering a unique piece that elevates interiors and celebrates the landscapes of Brazil. Its seamless blend of craftsmanship, sustainability, and innovation makes it a defining work for contemporary living spaces.
