Daity: Pop Art Packaging for Fruity Ice Lollies

Vibrant design blends nostalgia and freshness for all ages

Inspired by the bold energy of 60s and 70s pop art, Mohsen Koofiani’s Daity packaging reimagines the fruity ice lolly experience, capturing the essence of summer with playful colors and modern flair.

Daity’s packaging stands out as a celebration of fun, freshness, and nostalgia, drawing direct inspiration from the iconic pop art and poster designs of the 1960s and 70s. Mohsen Koofiani, the creative mind behind this project, sought to evoke the carefree spirit of summertime by utilizing the primary colors found in fruits. This approach not only visually connects the product to its core flavors but also infuses the design with energy and vitality, resonating with both young and family audiences.

What sets Daity apart is its purposeful use of color and typography. Each flavor—blueberry, blackberry, orange, and mixed fruits—is represented by a distinct color palette, reinforcing freshness, luxury, energy, and variety. The packaging’s clear, bold text and playful fonts, combined with vibrant fruit imagery, create an inviting and trustworthy presence on store shelves. This balance between visual appeal and clear information is designed to quickly capture attention and build consumer confidence in the product’s quality.

The realization of Daity’s packaging involves a unique blend of materials and finishes. A matt flow pack is paired with a glossy or metallic mask, enhancing the tactile and visual experience. The large, energetic font style is particularly engaging for children and teenagers, while the overall design remains accessible and attractive to families. The influence of pop art is evident in the use of bright, contrasting colors and dynamic graphic elements, ensuring the product stands out in a crowded market.

Extensive research underpins the design process, combining quantitative data from sales and surveys with qualitative insights from focus groups and observations. This research-driven approach allowed Koofiani to tailor the packaging to diverse consumer preferences, addressing the challenges of appealing to different age groups and standing out amidst intense competition. The result is a design that not only delights visually but also aligns with psychological and cultural expectations, enhancing brand identity and driving purchase decisions.

Daity’s packaging has been recognized for its creativity and effectiveness, earning a Bronze A' Design Award in 2025. The award highlights the design’s technical and artistic excellence, as well as its contribution to improving quality of life through thoughtful, engaging packaging. By merging pop art aesthetics with modern branding strategies, Daity sets a new standard for how everyday products can inspire joy and confidence in consumers.

Mohsen Koofiani’s Daity project demonstrates how innovative design can transform a simple ice lolly into a memorable lifestyle experience, proving that packaging is as much about storytelling and emotion as it is about function.
