Inspired by the evolving needs of urban environments, Re Form addresses the demand for adaptable and long-lasting public furniture. Drawing from principles of modularity in architecture, the design allows for flexible arrangements that can be tailored to diverse spatial and functional requirements. The use of high-strength concrete ensures weather resistance and cost-effectiveness, while the option for wooden seating surfaces adds warmth and comfort. This approach not only meets the practical demands of city life but also encourages social interaction and dynamic use of public areas.
What distinguishes Re Form is its focus on adaptability and user engagement. Each module can be configured in multiple ways, supporting a variety of activities and group sizes. The system includes four main modules, two with sub-variations, all maintaining an ergonomic seating height of 450 mm. The modules fit efficiently within a 2000 mm x 2000 mm footprint, optimizing space without compromising comfort. The leaf-shaped unit, measuring approximately 2800 mm, adds a sculptural element to the ensemble, enhancing visual appeal and versatility.
Production of Re Form relies on precision casting techniques, ensuring consistency and scalability. The robust concrete modules are designed for forklift-assisted placement, allowing for quick installation and effortless reconfiguration as urban needs change. Optional wooden surfaces provide additional comfort, making the furniture inviting for extended use. This practical approach reduces installation complexity and supports sustainable urban development by enabling spaces to evolve over time.
Research underpinning Re Form focused on ergonomics, modular arrangement, and social dynamics. Studies demonstrated that reconfigurable layouts foster inclusivity and interaction, transforming static public spaces into vibrant community hubs. Observational research and prototyping confirmed that the system’s flexibility enhances both user experience and spatial efficiency, offering a sustainable solution for contemporary cities.
Re Form’s innovative design has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in 2025, affirming its status as a practical and forward-thinking contribution to urban furniture. By combining durability, adaptability, and aesthetic appeal, Re Form sets a new standard for public seating, inviting communities to engage, interact, and enjoy their urban environments in ever-changing ways.
As cities continue to evolve, adaptable solutions like Re Form demonstrate the importance of flexible design in shaping inclusive, resilient, and engaging public spaces for the future.
