Once a vinyl record is placed on the platter, Groove automatically detects the track and uses its onboard AI to identify the song within seconds. The integrated short-range projector then displays lyrics, album art, and metadata directly onto a nearby surface, creating an immersive, interactive listening environment.

The user interface is equally innovative, featuring a multifunctional retractable dial that emerges when the device is powered on. This dial allows seamless navigation through Groove’s menu system, projected onto the wall. Actuators enable the automatic deployment and retraction of both the tonearm and the dial, maintaining a clean, minimalist look when the player is not in use.

Groove’s technical specifications further reinforce its premium status. Measuring 500mm by 350mm by 80mm, it includes a built-in stereo amplifier, Bluetooth 5.1, WiFi, LAN connectivity, and beam-forming microphones. The direct drive BLDC motor ensures precision speed control, while the 3.5mm Aux Out offers versatile listening options for audiophiles and casual listeners alike.

Daniel Henneh’s research focused on optimizing music recognition with minimal computing power and developing reliable retractable mechanisms. Overcoming the challenge of simplifying the traditional record player, Groove eliminates unnecessary components, such as the conventional counterweight, in favor of spring preload mechanisms for a cleaner design.

Groove’s excellence has been recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in 2025, honoring its remarkable blend of technical innovation and artistic skill.
