Marina Gold: A Futuristic Resort Inspired by Sunset

Luxury hotel in Vietnam redefines seaside architecture and guest experience

Marina Gold, scheduled to open in 2030 on Vietnam’s Mui Ne Beach, stands as a testament to innovative resort architecture. Designed by Nobuaki Miyashita, the hotel’s golden exterior reflects the breathtaking hues of the setting sun, creating the illusion of a luxury cruise ship aglow on the horizon. This unique concept is further enhanced by a cantilevered glass-bottom pool and a panoramic rooftop restaurant, offering guests an immersive connection to the surrounding ocean and landscape.

The building’s dynamic form rises diagonally from the 7th to the 20th floor, evoking the grandeur and movement of a ship setting sail. At 85 meters tall, the structure’s silhouette becomes a landmark along the southeastern Vietnamese coast. The top floor’s glass-bottom pool extends dramatically toward the ocean, accompanied by a bar lounge and viewing restaurant, providing unparalleled vistas and a sense of floating above the sea.

Technologically, Marina Gold employs gold-finished panels on its facade, engineered to maximize light reflection and withstand coastal conditions. The primary structure utilizes reinforced concrete and steel, enabling the bold cantilevered features. Inside, premium wood and marble finishes evoke the luxurious ambiance of a cruise ship, while expansive terraces and shared spaces foster a harmonious resort experience for guests.

Environmental and guest experience studies played a crucial role in shaping the design. Simulations of light reflection and aerodynamics informed material choices and building orientation, ensuring both visual impact and sustainability. The project also navigated strict coastal regulations and structural challenges, particularly in engineering the safety and elegance of the glass-bottom pool. These efforts culminated in a harmonious blend of innovation, sustainability, and guest comfort.

Marina Gold’s recognition with the Silver A' Design Award in 2025 highlights its excellence and creative achievement in architecture. As a new landmark for Mui Ne Beach, the hotel sets a benchmark for sustainable tourism and contemporary resort design, offering guests an unforgettable blend of elegance, relaxation, and breathtaking coastal views.
