Inspired by the philosophy of coexistence between architecture and the natural environment, the Izanagi Project draws from both Japanese and Greek traditions. Named after Izanagi, the goddess of earth and creation, the project embodies harmony, balance, and sustainability. The design vision seeks to redefine luxury by integrating earth-sheltered architecture, which minimizes environmental impact while optimizing thermal efficiency and passive cooling.
The villas are developed using bioclimatic design principles and advanced construction technologies. Earth-sheltered structures, reinforced concrete, and locally sourced stone ensure both durability and sustainability. The integration of geothermal systems, solar panels, and passive cooling techniques further enhances energy efficiency. Parametric modeling and environmental simulations were utilized to achieve precision and maximize the performance of each villa.
Distinctive features of the Izanagi Project include minimalist aesthetics, organic materials, and panoramic views that seamlessly connect indoor and outdoor spaces. The use of A++ energy-filtered windows with Alumil Supreme Phos and s 630 profiles provides superior insulation, while granite tiles and waterproofing membranes guarantee longevity. Standalone air conditioning systems and thermal facades offer individualized climate control and enhanced comfort for residents.
Research for the project focused on sustainable subterranean living, analyzing earth-sheltered structures, thermal insulation, and passive energy systems. Results demonstrated significant reductions in energy consumption and environmental footprint, setting a benchmark for eco-conscious architecture in high-end real estate. The project also addresses social perceptions of underground living, offering a compelling narrative that blends luxury with environmental stewardship.
The Izanagi Project has overcome significant creative and technical challenges, including structural reinforcement to withstand soil pressure and the integration of advanced energy systems. The project’s successful realization has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in Hospitality, Recreation, Travel, and Tourism Design for 2025, highlighting its contribution to quality of life improvements and sustainable innovation.
By merging Japanese and Greek influences within a visionary architectural framework, the Izanagi Project establishes a new standard for sustainable luxury living, inspiring future developments to prioritize harmony with nature and responsible design.
