Innovative façade design balances privacy and city connection

Located in the heart of Bangkok, Baan Dusitanon addresses the challenges of urban living by offering residents a sanctuary that remains connected to its dynamic surroundings. The four-story residence, complete with a mezzanine, is enveloped by a distinctive façade that sets it apart from conventional city dwellings. This architectural approach responds to the bustling pedestrian and vehicular activity typical of its metropolitan setting.

The façade, characterized by vertically aligned and subtly twisted panels, serves as both a visual screen and a thermal buffer. These panels shield the interior from external views, ensuring privacy without sacrificing natural light or a sense of openness. The innovative design allows residents to enjoy panoramic city views while remaining protected from prying eyes, striking a delicate balance between seclusion and connection.

Functionality extends beyond visual appeal. The façade’s construction features high-strength aluminum louvers with elliptical profiles and tapered edges, offering durability and a sleek, modern appearance. The vertical arrangement of the louvers minimizes dust accumulation and water retention, while the supporting framework is discreetly integrated to maintain a seamless exterior.

The residence’s layout is thoughtfully divided to enhance both communal and private experiences. Semi-private living areas occupy the front section of each floor, fostering interaction and openness, while tranquil bedrooms are situated at the rear. A highlight of the design is the double-height living space on the fourth floor, which provides expansive views of the cityscape and amplifies the sense of spaciousness within the home.

Greenery and landscaped areas are strategically placed between the façade and the main structure, further enhancing the building’s aesthetic and environmental performance.
