House of Victory: Bahrain’s Tribute to Sporting Excellence

Award-winning sports museum blends heritage, innovation, and community

Maryam Alansari’s House of Victory redefines the sports museum, celebrating Bahrain’s athletic legacy through dynamic architecture and sustainable design.

Located in Bahrain, the House of Victory stands as a testament to the nation’s rich sporting heritage and the enduring spirit of its athletes. Designed by Maryam Alansari, this innovative sports museum seamlessly integrates natural elements such as courtyards and green spaces, fostering a harmonious relationship between architecture and landscape. The museum’s fluid lines and open spaces evoke the energy and movement intrinsic to sports, inviting visitors to explore and interact with the space in meaningful ways.

What sets the House of Victory apart is its unique combination of museum and stable facilities. The inclusion of a stable for retired champion horses not only honors Bahrain’s equestrian tradition but also provides a living connection to the sports celebrated within its walls. Central courtyards and a dedicated cycling track offer immersive experiences and panoramic views, enhancing visitor engagement throughout the 15,000 sqm landscape and 3,000 sqm built-up area.

The museum’s interior is thoughtfully curated, featuring dedicated sections for triathlon, cycling, and padel, with a particular emphasis on equestrian sports. This focus reflects Bahrain’s longstanding achievements in these disciplines and aims to inspire future generations by showcasing stories of triumph and community spirit. The layout encourages exploration, allowing guests to experience the dynamism and diversity of Bahrain’s sporting culture.

From a technological standpoint, the House of Victory employs a minimalist material palette, utilizing a concrete frame and glass structure for the main building. This approach maximizes natural light and transparency, creating an open and inviting atmosphere. The stable, constructed with a durable concrete frame, underscores the project’s commitment to sustainability and longevity, aligning with contemporary architectural best practices.

Recognition for the House of Victory’s design excellence came in the form of the Iron A’ Design Award in 2025, a prestigious honor that acknowledges well-designed, practical, and innovative architectural achievements. The award highlights the museum’s success in integrating industry standards, technical competence, and positive community impact, contributing to a more inspiring built environment.

By celebrating Bahrain’s sporting milestones and fostering a sense of community, the House of Victory stands as a beacon for heritage, innovation, and future aspirations in the world of sports architecture.
