Aqua: A Multifunctional Landscape Design in Izmir, Turkey

Creating an inclusive and vibrant living space

Our ultimate goal is to change the area into a living space that combines the company's ideals, turning them into an inviting and inclusive green area where site residents can gather together. Aqua, a landscape project designed by Gungor Gozegir, aims to meet the wishes and needs of the people who will live on the site.

Aqua is a landscape project located in Izmir, Turkey, designed to transform a new residential site into a vibrant and inclusive community space. With social diversity as a great opportunity, the project aims to bring joy to people of different ages and backgrounds. The ambition behind Aqua is to create an inclusive and democratic space that welcomes both residents and visitors.

One of the main strengths of Aqua is its multifunctional design, which divides the area into different sections to cater to the diverse needs of the people who will use the space. By incorporating contrast forms, colors, and textures, the design not only provides functionality but also adds richness to the landscape scenes.

The materials used in Aqua have been carefully selected to fit the planned activities and usage of each area. Different hardnesses of materials have been incorporated to ensure durability and suitability for their respective purposes. The design also incorporates vivid colors, which brighten the space and organically blend with the characteristic landscape.

Spanning approximately 12,800 square meters, Aqua is divided into three distinct parts: the middle part, the cliffy prow part, and the commercial part in the front facade. Each section serves a specific purpose, contributing to the overall functionality and aesthetic appeal of the landscape.

Designing Aqua presented several challenges, particularly in meeting the diverse needs of different age groups and social statuses. The project required careful planning and division of the site into areas that catered to various types of usage. By overcoming these challenges, Aqua has successfully created a space that is both practical and visually appealing.

Aqua is still under construction, with the architectural project starting in April 2017. Despite not being located near the sea, the design incorporates water elements to create a sense of tranquility and serenity. The project aims to provide residents and visitors with the feeling of being close to water, enhancing the overall experience of the space.

Aqua has been recognized for its excellence in design, receiving the Iron A' Design Award in the Landscape Planning and Garden Design category in 2020. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. Aqua stands out for its integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and its contribution to creating a better world.
