Revolutionizing TV Control with Innovative Design

The inspiration for Caster Remote Control came from the world of automotive design, known for its fluent and aerodynamic lines. Designed by Mariana Couto and Tiago Correia, Caster's unique design language is characterized by flowing curves and organic shapes. This remote control was carefully crafted to meet the needs of both the TV operator and the end-user.

One of the standout features of Caster Remote Control is its centrally arranged Directional Pad area, which allows for effortless navigation. Additionally, the striking Voice Command button enables users to interact with Aura, their virtual assistant, taking TV control to a whole new level.

Comfort and ease-of-use were also key considerations in the design process. The reverse side of the remote control features a soft coating that provides a comfortable grip, ensuring secure handling. In dimly lit rooms, the most frequently used buttons light up when the device is picked up, enhancing the user experience.

Caster Remote Control is made using a combination of ABS and polycarbonate (PC) plastics, which are molded using injection molding techniques. The keypad is crafted from silicone rubber with a specific hardness to ensure optimal button click feeling. All graphics are silk-printed using custom-tailored jigs to ensure high-quality results.

With dimensions of 44.3 mm width, 22.1 mm depth, and 191.8 mm height, Caster Remote Control is compact yet ergonomic, fitting comfortably in the user's hand.

Developed through extensive research and collaboration with Telefonica, Caster Remote Control was designed to meet the technological preferences, ergonomic requirements, and design sensibilities of end customers. The design team also conducted a thorough study of existing TV services and devices to address any flaws and create a cohesive and intuitive product.

Overcoming the challenge of designing the first Voice Command device for Telefonica customers, the team successfully created a high-tech and user-friendly remote control that seamlessly integrates with the Movistar TV service.

Caster Remote Control was awarded the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2020.
