X Streams: A Unique Wooden Door Handle Inspired by Nature

Combining Artistry and Functionality

The X Streams door handle, designed by Jiri Marek, is a testament to the beauty and versatility of wood as a material. Inspired by nature, Marek sought to create a door handle that not only serves its purpose but also adds a touch of artistry to any space.

When it comes to door handles, metal has long been the material of choice. However, Marek questioned why wood, one of the most comforting materials to touch, was overlooked. After all, if doors themselves are made from wood, why not the handles? This curiosity led him on a quest to make a unique wooden door handle that would elevate the overall aesthetic of any space.

The X Streams door handles stand out from conventional designs in terms of material choice and finish. By using reclaimed wood and employing the process of fractal burning, each handle becomes a work of art with its own individuality. The electric current during the burning process determines the flow of the river streams design, making each piece truly unique and non-replicable.

Not only is the X Streams handle visually stunning, but it also boasts exceptional functionality. The smooth curve between the handle's grip and neck provides a comfortable and ergonomic grip, ensuring ease of use. This nonlinear element adds an extra touch of elegance to the overall shape of the handle.

The realization of the X Streams door handle involves joining two pieces of wood for durability. The veins created through the process of fractal burning give the illusion of flowing river streams. These veins can be filled with colored epoxy resin or infused with luxurious metals such as gold or silver. To achieve the ultimate finish, the handle is covered with crystal clear epoxy resin.

With dimensions of 140mm in length, 26mm in width, and a projection of 65mm, the X Streams door handle is designed to fit seamlessly into any architectural space. The rose dimensions measure 55mm x 55mm, ensuring a perfect match with standard door hardware.

The primary function of the X Streams handle is to open new spaces, but its distinguished finish also plays a vital role in integrating the entire environment. Whether it's a residential or commercial setting, this handle adds a touch of sophistication and artistry.

The X Streams door handle project began in December 2019 and was fully realized in December 2020 in Telford, UK. Throughout the design process, Marek's focus on sustainability led him to use reclaimed wood from historic buildings. This not only adds character to the handles but also contributes to the preservation of valuable resources.

The X Streams door handle has received recognition for its exceptional design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Accessories, Hardware, and Materials Design category in 2021. This prestigious award is a testament to the handle's well-designed, practical, and innovative qualities that meet professional and industrial requirements.

Experience the beauty of nature and the artistry of design with the X Streams wooden door handle. Its unique combination of functionality and aesthetics will enhance any architectural space, leaving a lasting impression on all who interact with it.
