Glass Core: A Luminous Architectural Marvel

Kris Lin's Innovative Design Shines in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award

Renowned designer Kris Lin brings a unique architectural concept to life with the Glass Core project, an award-winning lobby design that combines innovation, aesthetics, and functionality in a stunning display of light and form.

The Glass Core, located in Jiaxing, China, is a reception lobby for a community building. What sets this design apart is its strategic location on the second floor of the building, accessible via a glowing elevator from the underground garage and ground floor. This luminous elevator, a clear sign of the building, is the first impression of the space, guiding people through a corridor reminiscent of a time tunnel.

The unique properties of the Glass Core lie in its clever use of light and space. The elevator space is 18 meters high, supported by steel structure technology. Translucent glass inlaid with metal material gives the impression of white jade with a gold rim, creating a visual spectacle akin to a white rainbow neon falling from the sky. The rectangular ambulatory plane staircase design strengthens the sense of space, perfectly combining the stairway and the elevator to guide and enrich the flowing lines.

The project, which covers an area of 1000 square meters, was completed in December 2020. It features three floors connected by an elevator space in the atrium. The first floor houses the office area, the second floor is the reception area, and the third floor is the brand display area, conversation area, and VIP room.

One of the key challenges faced by Lin and his team was ensuring the accessibility of the space and turning the 18-meter empty space into a highlight. The solution was to create a luminous elevator room that becomes the visual highlight in the space, easy to find even in the darkness.

The Glass Core project has been recognized for its innovative design and technical excellence, winning the Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021. This prestigious award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation.

In conclusion, Kris Lin's Glass Core project is a testament to the power of innovative design and architectural ingenuity. It is a shining example of how design can transform a space, creating a unique and memorable experience for those who pass through it.
