Dot: A Unique Pendant Lamp Inspired by the Earth's Transformations

A Harmonious Composition of Light and Design

The Dot pendant lamp, designed by Nicolle Nogueira and Katherine Heim Weber, is a captivating luminaire that defies gravity and symmetry. Inspired by the earth's course in the solar system, this pendant lamp represents the physical transformations that people go through. Each point of light is strategically placed, creating a dynamic and visually stunning composition.

The Dot pendant lamp stands out with its unique design and earthy tones, reminiscent of our greatest design inspiration - the earth itself. The luminaire is composed of a set of pendants, each featuring a canoe-shaped base supported by an angled stem. Inside the base, a sphere-shaped point of light illuminates the surroundings.

What sets the Dot pendant lamp apart is its ability to create different visual experiences. The placement of the points of light varies, resulting in a composition that is both harmonious and intriguing. The luminaire defies traditional lighting conventions, offering a fresh and innovative approach to interior design.

Made from steel and glass, the Dot pendant lamp showcases the seamless integration of materials and technology. The base canoe measures 30cm wide, while the milky globe has a diameter of 12cm. Illuminated by a G9 lamp with up to 3W, the luminaire provides broad non-directed lighting while maintaining visual comfort.

The Dot pendant lamp offers more than just illumination; it creates a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Its unique design allows for dynamic compositions, adapting to different spaces and creating a sense of movement. Whether used in residential or commercial settings, this luminaire adds a touch of sophistication and elegance.

The Dot pendant lamp was developed by a team of talented individuals, including Nicolle Nogueira and Katherine Heim Weber from NK Arquitetura, David Guerchon, and Adriana Sypniewski, a lighting designer. Their collaborative efforts resulted in a design that seamlessly combines aesthetics and functionality.

Despite the tight deadline of one month, the Dot pendant lamp was created for an interior architecture exhibition in Brazil. The designers wanted to evoke a cozy atmosphere, using a mix of natural materials and technology. When they couldn't find a luminaire that matched their vision, they decided to embark on a research journey to create something unique and innovative.

The Dot pendant lamp received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category in 2022. This prestigious award celebrates designs that showcase creativity, resourcefulness, and technical excellence, contributing to improvements in quality of life.

With its captivating design and unique composition of light, the Dot pendant lamp is a true testament to the power of innovation in the world of lighting design. It brings comfort, well-being, and a touch of elegance to any space it illuminates.
