The Torus project started in August 2018 at Arizona State University in the U.S and was completed in May 2019. The design team, which included Dosun Shin, Seyla Muise, Andrew Htoon, and Hannah Skogebo, conducted extensive research on the inefficiencies of traditional fans and sought to create a product that would revolutionize the way air is circulated and cooled.

Torus has received recognition for its groundbreaking design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Products category in 2022.
