The Splashy project aims to capture the mesmerizing moments when the collision of liquids on the surface creates irregular splashes in the shape of crowns, which then blend into ripples. These fluid beauties are driven by the randomness of natural power, creating a symphony of colors and shapes. The smooth porcelain material used in the design enhances the minimalist aesthetics, providing a sense of cleanness and ease.
The process of bringing Splashy to life involved advanced technology and meticulous attention to detail. Jessica utilized 3D modeling software to design the products, allowing her to simulate the dynamic movements of liquid flows. Through 3D dynamic analysis, she was able to manipulate the forms and shapes of the liquid splashes and drips, ensuring that they looked natural and realistic. Mockups were then created using 3D printing, and the final products were made of high-quality porcelain.
The cup measures 111mm x 85mm x 57mm, while the saucer has dimensions of 210mm x 210mm x 60mm. The accompanying spoon measures 33mm x 115mm x 18mm, completing the elegant set. These multifunctional tableware sets can be used to serve drinks, while the saucers can also double as dessert, pastry, or fruit plates. The unique splash shape with a ripple base creates an illusion of food being soaked in fresh milk, making it look more appetizing and hygienic. The saucers can even be used as home decor pieces, adding a touch of artistic flair to any space.
The Splashy project was completed in May 2022 in Shenzhen, China. Throughout the design process, Jessica conducted extensive research to find the most suitable shapes for the splashes and drips. Factors such as the density of the liquid, the speed of flow, and the impact area were taken into consideration. By running numerous dynamic tests with different variables, she was able to simulate the actual fluid conditions and create a configuration that satisfied her vision.
One of the main challenges Jessica faced was defining the shapes of the irregular splashes, drips, and ripples. Her goal was to preserve the randomness of liquid states, ensuring that the forms looked natural and authentic. To overcome this challenge, she utilized 3D dynamic simulation software, allowing her to simulate and modify the liquid flows. This approach resulted in products that appeared less artificial and more true to the fluid states.
The Splashy collection has received recognition for its innovative design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware, and Cookware Design category in 2023. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. Splashy's integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics contribute to a better world, providing fulfillment and positive feelings.
Splashy is not just a set of cup and saucer, but a work of art that celebrates the beauty of liquid flows. With its unique design and minimalist aesthetics, it adds a touch of elegance to your tableware collection. Whether you use it for serving drinks or as decorative pieces, Splashy is sure to impress with its captivating splashes and ripples.
