The Xylo Chair stands out from other designs due to its graceful lines and the ease of its production. Made from a single sheet of plywood using CNC machining, this chair showcases the designer's extensive research into structure and ergonomics. The use of plywood on the end grain provides exceptional strength while maintaining flexibility, and the subtle curves of the chair perfectly hug the body, ensuring both comfort and beauty.
With its laminated plywood construction and dowel joining, the Xylo Chair is a testament to the possibilities of modern technology. The 3-axis CNC machining allows for precise and efficient production, while the catalyzed lacquer finish enhances the chair's durability and aesthetics.
Measuring 18" x 22" x 36", the Xylo Chair is designed to fit seamlessly into any space, whether it be a home, office, or public setting. Its sleek and contemporary design makes it a versatile piece that can complement various interior styles.
The Xylo Chair was first conceptualized in August 2009 and brought to life in October of the same year. It made its debut at the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and was later showcased at the Living Arts gallery for the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition's "Momentum" show. The chair received second place and a Curator Honorable Mention. It was also exhibited at the "Untitled" gallery in Oklahoma City until March 2010.
In recognition of its outstanding design and innovation, the Xylo Chair was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2011. This prestigious accolade is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The Xylo Chair's integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics contribute to a better world by providing fulfillment and positive feelings.
